Sharapova the tall Russian out shined and outclassed her opponent Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in the Grand Slam Women’s final of the Australian Open.Ana hardly offered any resistance throughout the match except for one moment in the first set when Sharapova was trailing 4 games to 5 and and 0-30 in the crucial game, could have easily been the turning point for Ana.Sharpaova held her nerves and won the first set 7-5.Sharapova kept her brilliant form, the kind she showed against the favorite in the competition the number one seed Justine Henin.
The second set was a quick one, Sharapova gave nothing away and comfortably won 7-5,6-3 and joined the likes of Lindsay Davenport winning 3 Grand slams. It wasn’t all tears for Ana, the Serbian got her ranking raised to number two in the world. Now the hopes of Serbia lie on the danger man now, Novak Djokovic the world number three who took out the defending champion Roger Federer in the Semis. He’s up against the Joe-Wilfried Tsonga the inspired young man from France who took out Rafael Nadal the number two seed in the semis.Apparently it could be called David versus Goliath, Goliath being the leaner one.It would be interesting how the ever mechanical Djokovic will play against the Frenchman who’s in his very first Grand Slam final and in an exceptional form.
